Sculpture 101 is our beginning level hand building class. No experience is required to take this class. An instructor will demonstrate and guide you through the process of slipping and scoring along with other techniques such as coil building and slab building. Each step leading to the next. This is a one time two hour class. All materials and glazes are to be provided. Where does my piece go after class? After class your creations are to dry for a few days followed by being placed in the kiln for the first of two firings. Once the clay is dry enough it is placed in the kiln for 48 hours, unloaded, glazed, and reloaded into the kiln where it will fully vitrify at 2167°F (Yes that’s hotter than lava!). Once the kiln cools your piece is unloaded, packaged, and ready for pick up. If you do decide to make a functional piece please note that all of our glazes and clay bodies are food safe : ) What should I wear to class? Although messy, the clay used in class will not stain your clothing. However we do recommend wearing comfortable apparel. Should I bring anything? Just yourself. : )
